Yes! Leashed dogs under 50 kg can travel on TMB Metro and buses outside peak hours (7:00–9:30 a.m. & 5:00–7:00 p.m.). Dogs must wear a muzzle unless they’re in a carrier. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome at any time without restrictions.
Absolutely. The most popular is Playa de Llevant, which has a fenced off-leash dog area year-round. From October to April, dogs are also allowed on all city beaches.
Barcelona boasts over 100 “Àrees d’Esbarjo per a Gossos” (dog recreation zones) in city parks. The largest is in Parc de la Ciutadella near the monumental waterfall.
Many cafés and bars welcome dogs on terraces, and a growing number let polite pups inside. Look for the “Pet Friendly” sticker or call ahead. Don’t forget EU hygiene law still bars animals from food prep areas.
You’ll need an EU Pet Passport (or valid health certificate) with microchip and rabies vaccination up-to-date. Certain breeds classed as P.P.P. (“potentially dangerous”) require a special license and must wear a muzzle in public.
